Promotion to the ranks of Corporal right through to Flight Sergeant are based on merit and leadership potential. There are no exams to be taken as promotion to these ranks is determined by the Officer Commanding of the squadron.

One point worth mentioning is don't confuse RANKS with CLASSIFICATIONS, Rank means that you have the ability to control and organise individuals or groups of individuals, were as Classification is the level of training you have achieved.
